Junior Olympic Archery Development or JOAD is administered by USA Archery, the national organization in the United States that develops and promotes the sport of archery with the ultimate goal of producing Olympic archers. It is sanctioned by the US Olympic Committee to oversee US Olympic Archery . There are many divisions including recurve, compound, and barebow. USA Archery is a member of FITA (Federation Internationale de Tir a l'Arc), which is a non-profit organization that promotes and encourages archery throughout the world in conformity with the Olympic principles. It arranges world championships and maintains world and Olympic record scores. JOAD activities range from beginner instruction and outreach to world championship competition. JOAD missions range from character development to international championship competition.
